Playwright I.B. Hopkins was my model during two classic tailoring courses taught at the University of Texas by Professor Jim Glavan .

Emerald Vest and Trousers

To have more practice, I decided to take UT's Tailoring I course again. This time I made an older silhouette for myself with a double breasted vest and wide leg trousers with a button fly. The wool is a Donegal tweed from Magee 1866.
18th century Tailoring & Hand Sewing

For my thesis, I am researching historical patterns and hand sewing techniques . The coat, vest , and breeches are based on 1730s patterns from The Cut of Men's Clothes by Norah Waugh.

For my thesis Homage to Handmade, I explored the importance of hand sewing after the invention of the sewing machine and in the presence of newer technology such as the 3D printer and SewBot. I created 1740s inspired men's garments based on a draft by Norah Waugh. The coat and vest are entnirely hand stitched and the the wool is handwoven Harris Tweed.
